What to expect—

With each unit covered in class, students can expect to see all of the following types of assignments given:

    • Unit vocabulary list of terms to be defined along with the significance of each term
    • A warm up to be completed at the beginning of each period
    • A Free Response Question (FRQ), or argumentative essay, to be answered and completed within 45 minutes
    • A Document-Based Question (DBQ), or argumentative essay, to be answered and completed within 45 minutes
    • A multiple choice exam (example questions are provided on the next page) to be completed within a given period of time
    • A minimum of five pages of reading per night with Cornell Notes to be completed with each evening’s reading assignment
    • Reading quizzes based on the previous night’s assigned reading
    •  Additional enrichment activities during class time including, but not limited to, thinking maps and graphic organizers, PowerPoint Notes, map activities, unit review questions and AP test review activities

     McKay, John, and John Buckle. A History of Western Society. 6th Edition. Houghton Mifflin Company

    Please be aware that this is an Advanced Placement (college level) Course and will require a commitment beyond what is expected in a typical class.  Students should expect to read 7 pages on average each night.   Cornell Notes will be completed and collected for every reading assignment.

*AP European History can be taken as a core course, in place of World or Honors World History. It can also be taken in addition to World History for elective credit.

  • Compare and contrast the Lutheran Reformation and Catholic Reformation of the 16th century regarding the reform of both religious doctrines and religious practices.
